WordCamp Sacramento 2016 Saturday Photos

WordCamp Sacramento Team

So far we’ve shared photos with you from WordCamp Sacramento Day Two (Sunday) taken by Anthony Skelton, we’ve shared a collection iPhone of photos I took, and a group of photos taken by an attendee.

If you were able to come to WordCamp Sacramento this year, I hope these photos are reminding you what a great time you had! If you didn’t get tickets to come to WordCamp this year, I hope seeing these photos not only demonstrates how much fun and learning happened during the event, but also encourages you to get more involved with out local WordPress community!

Today we’re sharing photos taken by another awesome volunteer, Stewart Savage. He was in charge of photographing the event on Saturday (Day One), so you probably saw him and his camera throughout the day! Stewart is the owner of Abaton Consulting, a website design studio in Davis, California. if you use one of his photos, be sure to give him credit: Photo by Stewart Savage, Abaton Consulting.

And if you were inspired at WordCamp to get more involved in our Sacramento WordPress community, the next meetup is happening Tuesday, December 6 at 6:30 pm at The Urban Hive in midtown Sacramento. It’s a Q&A/Holiday Party night, which means you’ll get to enjoy sweet treats, participate in an Ask Us Anything Live Q&A session with the organizers, and play some WordPress Trivia for awesome prizes, including:

  • Swag from GoDaddy
  • A Pro Membership from Beaver Builder
  • Swag from WP Engine
  • A 1 year license for Post Promoter Pro
  • A 1 year BuddyPress license from iThemes
  • 2 Themes from StudioPress
  • 1 PRO Plus Membership from StudioPress

WordCamp Sacramento In Photos, An Attendee’s Perspective

WordCamp Sacramento 2016

When we sent out the post-event survey link for WordCamp Sacramento 2016, attendee Peter Rashkin replied with an offer to share his photos, and of course I said yes!

Throughout WordCamp, Brian and I (and the rest of our amazing organizing team) were so busy doing “organizer things,” that we didn’t really have a chance to sit back, relax, and just watch the event unfold, so I loved seeing WordCamp from the perspective of an attendee and I hope you do too!

Big thanks to Peter for sharing his photos with us!

It’s A Wrap: The Official WordCamp Sacramento 2016 Recap

WordCamp Sacramento 2016 Recap

WordCamp Sacramento 2016 has been part of my life since February of this year, and while it feels a little weird to have it over and done with, it feels really good to have hosted such a fantastic event.

Growing from 150 tickets sold in 2015 to 363 tickets sold in 2016, This year’s WordCamp was a big step up from our inaugural event last year! We also grew from 19 speakers to 31 speakers and moved to a larger, more attendee-friendly venue.

Sacramento should be proud!

Our community came together in a big way to welcome WordPressers from across the country to our city, to share our knowledge and experience and help lift up others, and to demonstrate the caring nature of our local Sacramento WordPress community.

In fact, one of our speakers, Tate Barber, wrote a great follow up post about his experience and the generosity of a fellow WordCamper that you should check out.

My hope is that as we continue to grow and more and more people in our local community experience WordCamp for themselves — there really isn’t anything like it — that more local businesses, the community colleges, the Sacramento State Graphic Design program, and the Sacramento tech community might even start paying attention and want to step up and participate or hopefully sponsor… fingers crossed!

Now for the full event debrief…

WordCamp Sacramento 2016 Speaker Slide Decks

Cat Scholz

I can’t believe WordCamp Sacramento 2016 has come and gone! It was a fantastic event that the Sacramento WordPress community should be proud of. We all had a blast and we hope you did too!

While we’re putting together a couple post-event recap posts and acknowledgements, we wanted to get you access to the slide decks from the speakers all in one place. Yes, we published the links via Twitter throughout the event so you could follow along with the speaker on your own device and see their slides up close … but if you didn’t save the links, going back through the hashtag to get them later can be a pain.

If you missed WordCamp or were so busy enjoying the event, you skipped Twitter, you can check out some of the event Tweets here.

This post lists all of the slide decks that are available (all sessions but one), gives you the links to download them, and shares a quick snapshot I snagged of each speaker sharing their knowledge and expertise with us.

WordCamp Sacramento Speaker Q&A: Jonathan Denwood

Jonathan Denwood

Get To Know Jonathan Denwood

His friends will tell you that Jonathan’s British personality is as dry and straightforward as his business acumen. And those that know him best tell him that’s a good thing! When he’s not helping businesses succeed online, you can probably find him enjoying the High Sierras — that’s the mountain range that wraps around this magnificent region here in northern Nevada. Many times, people ask if he misses the U.K. and he can honestly say “no”, apart from his close family and friends who sill live in England. However, the two things that he really does miss are “Fish & Chips” and a good cup of tea made the English-way!

We’re thrilled Jonathan will be speaking at WordCamp Sacramento 2016 on the Five Steps To Setting Up a Podcast on WordPress!
