This is the second post in a series to help you get to know our 2016 WordCamp Sacramento organizers a little better! You’ve already met Jose Castaneda, and today we’re introducing you to Bill Mead.
Bill Mead teaches web design and development classes at Art Institute of California, Sacramento. Through Mead.Design, he has been building custom WordPress websites since 2005, and loves the platform and the community. He helped found the Sacramento WordPress Meetup Group in 2010 and is involved with other local groups including SacInteractive, the Adobe User Group, and the Sacramento Ad Club.
Be sure to give Bill at shout out on Twitter and don’t forget to use our hashtag #wcsac.

To help you get to know our organizers a bit better, we asked them to answer a few questions…
Here’s what Bill had to say:
What was your favorite part of WordCamp 2015?
My favorite part of WordCamp 2015 was getting WordCamp Sacramento off the ground and seeing so much of the WordPress community come together last November to make it happen. I am looking forward to an even bigger event this year and making it better in just about every way.
Why should people come to WordCamp?
The WordPress community is a special group of people, founded on sharing and taking something we can all get for free and make it awesome.
Who wouldn’t want to be a part of that.
Any advice for those attending their first WordCamp?
Get a good night’s sleep before WordCamp and come with an open mind and an open heart. Bring business cards. You will meet people that you will want to reconnect with in the months afterwards.
How has WordPress Or WordCamp Impacted you?
I have met great people and learned some great tips and techniques over the years. I am a huge fan of open source, and WordPress is an example of open source done right.
The WordCamp theme this year is “discovery” — What does that mean to you?
Discovery is all about potential. When I go into a new adventure with discovery as a priority, I am more open to possibilities.
What does it mean in the context of WordPress?
WordPress is such a huge ecosystem, there are professionals doing things with WordPress and working angles that I had never imagined. I am looking forward to discovering other perspectives.
What do you like to do for fun?
My life is centered around creative processes. I am always making something, or looking for inspiration from what other people are making. Building stuff for the web is my primary medium, but I also enjoy writing, drawing and photography. I recharge my batteries by taking my dog for long walks and reading science fiction.
