WordCamp Sacramento After Party
If you’ve been to a WordCamp before, you know that there is always an after party. If you came to WordCamp Sacramento last year, you know our after party was at the River City Saloon in Old Sacramento. If you’ve got a ticket for WordCamp Sacramento 2016, you’ve probably already heard some tidbits about this year’s after party.
Last year, we learned a pretty important lesson: If you leave time for dinner and have the After Party start late in the evening, fewer people will make the effort to attend, especially if it is in a different location.
So this year we decided to do things differently.
After Party Details
The after party is a great place to continue conversations from the day, get to know others in our local WordPress community better, start or strengthen some new relationships, and kick back and relax after a day of learning.
This year, the After Party is happening directly following the final sessions on Saturday at the exact same venue — all you have to do is walk into the courtyard! (A ticket to WordCamp Sacramento is required to attend the After Party.)
- The After Party runs from 5:00 pm to 6:45 pm, leaving you plenty of time to enjoy dinner with friends or get home and get to bed early.
- We’ll have light snacks, including cheese and cracker platters, bruschetta, not one but two chocolate fondue stations!
- Get plenty of extra time to network with other WordCamp attendees in a casual, laid back atmosphere.
Live Music With Matt Rainey
The WordCamp Sacramento After Party will also feature live music from Sacramento’s own singer, songwriter, and guitarist Matt Rainey!
Brian and I have had the great pleasure to see Matt perform on several occasions, both with his band Dippin’ Sauce and as a solo acoustic act — and he is fantastic. Matt is one of our favorite local musicians, and has fronted some of best Grateful Dead themed shows in the Sacramento area.
Matt is playing a solo acoustic show at the WordCamp After Party.
More About Matt Rainey
A Fair Oaks, California native, Matt has been playing his unique style of guitar for diverse audiences across the Sacramento region and beyond for years. Most of his guitar skills were honed at the rivers edge or walking down that old lonesome road, and it can be felt in his performances, with influences in many different styles from old Mississippi blues to roots reggae to folk music.
Inspired from artists such as Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Jerry Garcia, the Allman Brothers and Bob Dylan, his music is diverse, creative, and interesting. Matt’s unique style and energy always keeps people dancing and smiling.
As lead guitarist and vocalist for this band Dippin’ Sauce, Matt Rainey has been putting on electrifying performances that feature his unique style and vibrant energy that always keeps audiences dancing and smiling.
Winners of the 2012 Sacramento Area Music Awards, Dippin’ Sauce is a blues, rock, jam, and reggae band with a fresh, rockin’, and often psychedelic sound. A regular attraction at Sacramento’s premier clubs, Matt Rainey and Dippin’ Sauce have a vibe that is truly remarkable and music that is unmistakably Dippin’.
