T-shirts are hard. Way harder than you think. Seriously.
The fabric needs to be soft or people won’t wear them. The design needs to be great or people won’t take them home. You need sizes available for every possible attendee — and you need to offer both men’s and women’s sizes. Sizing between brands and companies are totally inconsistent, and some are just completely wrong.
Last year, we offered men’s and women’s shirts for WordCamp and we warned women that the ladies shirts ran small. But in no way did we expect the women’s shirts to be sized for kids. The women’s small was so small that it didn’t even fit my twelve year old!
This year we’re trying something different…
Get The Right Size WordCamp T-Shirt
The first round of tickets go on sale on Thursday, September 1 and we’re going to ask you for your t-shirt size.
To help you figure out what size t-shirt you need before it’s time to buy your ticket, we’re giving you the t-shirt sizing charts direct from the company we’re ordering our shirts from. This way you can see photos of the t-shirt on real people and see their sizes. You can also see the actual length and width measurements for the different sizes. Armed with this information, you should be able to pick out just the right size WordCamp t-shirt and feel great wearing it at WordCamp or around town.

Again ladies, we’re warning you up front, these shirts RUN SMALL. We highly recommend ordering one size up — or get a men’s shirt (that’s actually what I prefer).
Are you at liberty to divulge the brand and models of T-shirts? Some people may be able to just look in their closet to see if they have an identical shirt to know what size to order.
They are by Jerzees and are a 50/50 blend.
Thank you for taking the extra time with t-shirt sizing. Something that seems so simple is not. I look forward to Wordcamp.
Look at the women’s photos. Does that neckline flatter any of them? I would like a t-shirt a v neck. Any color except white. I suppose being a “camp” a t-shirt is expected, but how many go straight to the donation bag?
My vote would be no t-shirt, apply the money toward the lunch or a scholarship for someone unable to afford the $40.
Linda — WordCamp is completely planned and run by volunteers who donate hundreds of hours of their own time to make it happen. If you’ve got specific things you want to see happen, we’d love to invite you to volunteer your time to help plan and organize the event next year 🙂
Thanks, this is helpful, and I like the women’s T style. Looking forward to seeing this year’s design, and to WordCamp Sac 2016!
Thanks so much for taking the time to put this info out for us! Really looking forward to making it this year!
