This is the sixth post in a series to help you get to know our 2016 WordCamp Sacramento organizers a little better! You’ve already met Jose Castaneda<\/a>, Bill Mead<\/a>, John Locke<\/a>, and 2016 Lead Jennifer Bourn<\/a>, and today we\u2019re introducing you to Jen Meyer.<\/p>\n Jen Meyer is in her final year as a Graphic and Web Design student at The Art Institute of California, Sacramento and is looking forward to graduating. She began using WordPress in a class in 2014 and has since used it for several projects. Jen is excited to once again be part of WordCamp Sacramento, and looks forward to many more opportunities to get involved with the local design community.<\/p>\n Be sure to give Jen at shout out on Twitter<\/a> and don\u2019t forget to use our hashtag #wcsac<\/strong>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n To help you get to know our organizers a bit better, we asked them to answer a few questions… <\/p>\n Here’s what Jen had to say:<\/p>\n WordCamp 2015 was my first ever WordCamp and everything was new to me. It\u2019s a little nerve-wracking meeting so many new people at once, but the WordPress community was warm and welcoming.<\/p>\n This year I\u2019m looking forward to getting the most I can out of the talks, and meeting more members of the WordPress Community. As the Speaker Wrangler it\u2019s been great getting to know all of the speakers and I look forward to meeting all of them.<\/p>\n Knowledge. WordCamp isn\u2019t just for developers, we have speakers covering topics ranging from design to strategy. There\u2019s something for everyone to discover and explore. <\/p>\n Don\u2019t be nervous and ask the questions you really want to ask. Chances are there\u2019s someone else attending that has the same question. We all have different experience levels and interests, but we all have something to offer other attendees.<\/p>\n WordCamp has given me the opportunity to meet more people over the last 2 years than I could have as a student. I feel it\u2019s important to get involved in the community and I\u2019m glad I volunteered last year to be the Venue Director.<\/p>\n Discovery is all about the aha moments in life. That moment where everything clicks. When a concept is more than just something you learned and is now something you truly understand. Those are my favorite moments. <\/p>\n WordPress has so many hidden gems just waiting to be discovered. Every time I need something special for a project it\u2019s just a plugin away. Once you have the plugin you then discover how to use it, and discover how it can benefit your project in ways you hadn\u2019t anticipated. <\/p>\n I love to travel and explore new places and cultures. That\u2019s the one thing I most look forward to after graduating. For now I\u2019m content to camp at the beach. When I\u2019m home you can usually find me gardening, stargazing, or reading a good book. Right now I\u2019m reading the Outlander<\/em> series by Diana Gabaldon.
