Setting Up Your Own Podcast And Vlog
Why Is This Important?
Podcasting and vlogging are powerful marketing tools. They are social media tools that can help your agency grow. While YouTube is an excellent online marketing platform it is not conducive to people with iPhones who like listening to podcasts while exercising, doing chores and driving.
Tie a blog into a vlog and a podcast and you have covered a large spectrum of consumers which will increase your marketing power and budget. Another reason to create your own podcast & vlog is that it is fun and you get to interview some pretty neat people.
How Did You Discover WordPress?
I have been around computers my most of my adult life and started dabbling in 1995 running my families real estate website. After returning back from Afghanistan in 2012, I was beaten up and mostly staying the bed or on the couch watching YouTube for four months. While watching youtube, I discovered podcasting. Podcasting led me to WordPress.
Every podcast needs its own website. YouTube is the perfect open source website creation tool and it is probably the easiest and best blogging and website content manager system for hosting a podcast. I started learning WordPress by attending the Reno WordPress Meetup.
How Do You Use WordPress?
We use WordPress as the content management system of choice for all our podcasts and recommend that every podcaster has a WordPress website tailored specifically for their podcast and/or vlog.
How Has WordPress Impacted You?
WordPress is the platform that allows me to monetize our podcast. Since late 2012, I have enjoyed my journey into learning WordPress, some CSS, and PHP. I have attended serval Wordcamps and meetups which have brought me many new friends.
What Do You Do When Not Working?
Hiking and mountain climbing with my family are my favorite activities outside of working on podcasts. I live in Reno and the Rim Trail trailhead is only a short drive from my home.
The beauty of the Lake Tahoe’s clear waters with blues from aqua to cobalt, mountains, and snow-capped peaks are breathtaking. I feel very fortunate to look out from my home office at the towering mountain ridges and peaks of the Sierras.
What Is Your Favorite Candy?
