I Wrote My Blog Post, Now What?
Why Is This Important?
People often ask me whether or not their blog posts are worthwhile. The answer depends on many factors and a clear explanation needs to be outlined so direction can be followed.
The technicalities of post composition and keywords, recognizing topic competition, identifying audience personas, building audience engagement, details of post promotion, and reviewing analytics are key to understanding the power of a blog post. Blog posts are often suggested as an answer without the “bones” of what each needs being discussed. My goal is to provide clarity so when people leave the talk, they know exactly what they can do to create a high performing blog.
How Did You Discover WordPress?
I started writing for websites in 1996. Later I was recruited as a blogger for a national blogging network and learned the components necessary for post performance. In 2009, I discovered WordPress and started blogging for individual clients. One of my developer friends invited me to watch the OC WordPress Meetup videos online and that led to me attending the actual WordPress group.
How Do You Use WordPress?
I’ve built my business on WordPress – through blogging, website development, and social promotion. I’m also a Marketing Team Contributor for WordPress and an organizer of The OC WordPress Meetup and Women Who WP, a specialty Meetup and non-profit dedicated to supporting women in WordPress. I’m on the organizing teams for WordCamp Orange County and WordCamp Los Angeles.
