WordCamp Session Title
Practical Security Framework for Website Owners
Why Is This Important?
I believe that website owners need to think about website security holistically, and more practically. This presentation is designed to introduce a basic framework that any organization, small or large, can easily employ to improve their own security posture.
How Did You Discover WordPress?
I was introduced to WordPress by Dre Armeda, Christmas of 2009. At the time he was a freelancer, and I was a Technical Architect for GIS solutions for the US Department of Defense.
How Do You Use WordPress?
In 2010 we started a boutique agency, CubicTwo, which lasted for about a year. But since, I have invested my energy into website security threats and education. WordPress is a tool I use to write and disseminate content, both personally and at Sucuri.
How Has WordPress Impacted You?
I would say that WordPress opened my eyes of open-source and introduced me to a new world of online entrepreneurship.
What Do You Do When Not Working?
I am a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu practitioner, so I spend a good deal on the mats and in the gym conditioning. If it’s winter, you’ll find me dividing my time further shredding the slopes, and I am hoping to introduce surfing into the mix in 2017. Besides that, I try to spend it making memories with my little rug rats.
