After the incredible success of our first single day Beginner Track in 2017, we decided to do it again! This year however, we’ve changed up the official schedule to bring you an all new WordPress Beginner Track spanning two full days!
The Beginner Track Structure
The Beginner Track stretches across both Saturday and Sunday — and the sessions follow the same schedule as the rest of WordCamp, so you can move freely between all three tracks as you wish.
Saturday Sessions
The Saturday Beginner Track sessions are all about how to use WordPress. From themes, creating pages, adding media, publishing blog posts, and getting your settings just right, each session of the day will walk you through a different aspect of the WordPress back-end and how it works.
You’ll be learning from:
- Jennifer Bourn
- Brian Bourn
- Natalie Bourn
- Emily Lema
- Stewart Savage
- Tyler Smith
- Heather Hogan
- Jeremy Hawes
- Michael Helmke
The Saturday lineup of sessions is perfect for anyone who:
- Wants to learn how to use WordPress
- Knows a bit about using WordPress, but wants to get more comfortable with it
- Has been put in charge of a WordPress site or is required to work on/in a WordPress site as part of their job
- Wants to make sure they’re taking care of their site the right way
If you have a WordPress website or blog, you can bring a laptop and follow along with each session on your own site, but it is not required. You do not need a laptop or any kind of device to follow along with the sessions and learn.
NOTE: There will be Q&A opportunities in every session, but if you need specific help with an issue on your website or blog, the best place to get that help isn’t in the sessions, but in the Happiness Bar, our free WordPress Help Desk that is open throughout the entire event.
Sunday Sessions
The Sunday Beginner Track sessions are all about what to do with your WordPress website or blog. From email marketing, local SEO, and social media, to online courses, membership sites, and blogging, you’ll learn best practices, tips and tactics, and recommendations for tools and resources.
You’ll be learning from:
These sessions are informational than instructional, so you don’t need a laptop or device of any kind for these sessions — just a notebook and pen or pencil to take notes!
