Kathy Alice Brown has been a SEO Consultant and Blogger for over 9 years with a focus on technical SEO. She has worked extensively with WordPress sites and teaches SEO on Udemy.
We’re thrilled to have Kathy Alice onboard as a speaker at WordCamp Sacramento 2018 asked a few questions to help you get to know more about her. Check out our mini interview with Kathy Alice below:
What is the topic of your WordCamp talk?
Site Migration? Redesign? Don’t Tank Your SEO
Why do you think this is important?
Every SEO’s nightmare is someone who shows up and says: “Hey we just moved and redesigned our site, so what happened to all our organic traffic? It’s much easier for everyone if a few steps are taken before the move.
I did do a test run of this topic at a meetup and it was well received – people felt it was useful.”
What’s your WordPress origin story?
I’ve had a blog since 2009 and have been part of the WordPress community through meetups and WordCamps for many years. Although I don’t build WordPress sites anymore (I did a few back in the day), the fact that WordPress powers a quarter of the websites on the web means I come across many WordPress websites. I’m amazed how it has evolved. My clients that have WordPress love that I will log in and fix stuff for them, I don’t make the same promise for other CMS systems.
How has WordPress impacted your world?
Having a creative outlet (my blog, where I write about SEO), is something I love and wish I had more time to write and make my site better. I love the WordPress community and the people I meet — often are bloggers or someone with a cool idea that puts together a website and runs with it. It’s inspiring. WordPress gets a lot right with SEO, so sometimes it is a relief to work on a WordPress site.
