Tyler Smith is a freelance web developer who specializes in building WordPress websites for marketing agencies and small businesses. A technology hobbyist his whole life, he became familiar with WordPress while working at a digital marketing agency. He enjoyed working with WordPress so much that after a year and a half at the digital marketing agency, he left to become a full-time web developer.
We’re thrilled to have Tyler onboard as a speaker at WordCamp Sacramento 2018 asked a few questions to help you get to know more about him. Check out our mini interview with Tyler below:
What is the topic of your WordCamp talk?
How To Use WordPress Widgets And Menus
Why do you think this is important?
Learning to manage a site’s appearance, widgets and menus are fundamental skills for managing WordPress sites.
What’s your WordPress origin story?
During college, I worked a part-time job as a marketer at a small company where I helped manage their WordPress website. Following graduation, I found a full-time job at a digital marketing firm where I worked with developers to get WordPress sites built for clients.
After working in digital marketing for a year and a half, I decided the developers had a cooler job than I did, so I quit my job, learned WordPress development and have been a freelance WordPress developer ever since.
How has WordPress impacted your world?
WordPress has made it possible for me to be a work-at-home freelancer because of its ease-of-use for clients and incredibly welcoming and helpful community.
