What To Do If You Bought A WordCamp Ticket, But Can No Longer Attend

Can't Go To WordCamp

It’s inevitable. When 350 people buy tickets for an event in advance, there are going to be at least a couple of people who end up not being able to use their ticket.

We know that things get in the way of even the best laid plans — business travel, family obligations, personal stuff, illness, scheduling conflicts, unexpected events, and more. So, if you bought a ticket to WordCamp Sacramento and now you can’t go, we’re super bummed out for you, but we also have a few ideas on what you can do with your ticket!

While we can’t resell your ticket for you and WordCamp Sacramento tickets are non-refundable, we can point you in the right direction:

OPTION 1:
Give your WordCamp Sacramento ticket away. There are many people in our local WordPress community who would love to attend, especially students, who may not have had the $40.00 on hand to buy a ticket. Consider paying it forward and giving your ticket away.

OPTION 2:
Sell your WordCamp Sacramento ticket. Again, while we can’t do this for you, you can sell your ticket and collect the money via PayPal.

Then…

Next Steps

Whether you are going to give your ticket away or try to sell your ticket, the first step is connecting with those who don’t have a ticket and want one. There are a few ways to do this:

  • Leave a comment on this post that you’re looking to giveaway or sell your ticket.
  • Post an announcement that you are selling or giving away your WordCamp ticket on Twitter. Tag @WC_Sacramento and use the event hashtag #wcsac. We’re telling those looking for tickets to watch Twitter, and we’ll retweet your post.
  • Post an announcement that you are selling or giving away your WordCamp ticket on Facebook and use the event hashtag #wcsac — you can also post/comment on the event on Facebook.
  • Post an announcement that you are selling or giving away your WordCamp ticket on the Sacramento WordPress Meetup Group event.
  • Changing Ticket Details

Remember, if you sell your ticket or give your ticket away, you also need to update the attendee information.

Check your ticket receipt or any of the emails we have sent asking you to confirm your ticket details for the unique link to your ticket. Click the link and change the attendee details to officially transfer the ticket — otherwise, they won’t be able to attend the event.

    Best of luck to you!
