Meet The Speaker: Parisa Vassei

Parisa Vassei

Parisa Vassei is a digital strategist and designer who helps clients and groups level up their online presence through user experience design, conversion strategy, analytics, and marketing automation all in the WordPress environment. Formerly the founder of Web Couture, her new Northern California-based company, Parisa Consulting, offers high level consulting and solutions for businesses hoping to enhance their digital footprints through smart quick launch WordPress websites, marketing funnels and automation, and e-learning environments. Nothing would make Parisa happier than if you asked her about her new favorite apps or her cat—not necessarily in that order.

We’re thrilled to have Parisa onboard as a speaker at WordCamp Sacramento 2018 asked a few questions to help you get to know more about her. Check out our mini interview with Parisa below:

What is the topic of your WordCamp talk?

WordPress Funnel Fundamentals

Why do you think this is important?

As it becomes increasingly challenging to compete online, it’s important that businesses go beyond simple, informative websites to ones focused around conversion strategy and optimization. Marketing funnels offer a powerful way to attract, engage, nurture and convert visitors into subscribers, buyers, and raving fans. In this session, I will go over the fundamentals behind funnels and their strategy, introduce a few different use cases and funnel blueprints that businesses can implement, and cover the tools and tech you’ll need to get started building funnels in WordPress. My goal is to make this content enjoyable and accessible, so that even beginners will feel comfortable designing and implementing their own marketing funnels.

What’s your WordPress origin story?

I’ve been building for the web since my youth. In fact, my first version of a modern-day website was my AOL “homepage” that I designed at age 10 or 11. I was so excited that I plastered its address on my classroom walls. Needless, to say, I wasn’t very popular in my youth!

Years later, I began embracing Microsoft Publisher and eventually, Dreamweaver. It wasn’t until I discovered WordPress in 2009 or so that I realized how powerful website publishing could be. With that initially came a bit of overwhelm (ok, so where do I host my sites? what are the best themes, etc?) but instantly, I realized that WordPress was different from other platforms and had a unique, and collaborative ethos.

To this day, I’m thoroughly impressed by how the WordPress platform and community have grown. The platform has been remarkably innovative and the community surrounding it has created the most impressive ecosystem of themes, plugins and solutions for businesses both small and large.

How has WordPress impacted your world?

WordPress has helped me grow my business, serve my clients with unique solutions, and reach more people. A lot of the solutions I’ve really embraced within the WordPress environment would have otherwise been cost-prohibitive for me to pursue as a small business. I’ve love the flexibility of the solutions I’ve been able to implement for myself and my clients.

I’m constantly impressed by the helpfulness of fellow users and the general sense of community over competition. WordPress as a community exhibits the best of humanity and society: by embracing adaptability, innovation and collaboration.
